In the idyllic, tranquil town where Baltham lives, he spends his days in solitude, preferring his own company over the risk of social interactions. Often found at the library or sitting by the park's fountain, Baltham believes he is better off alone, shielded from potential hurt. One day, a friendly wolf named Lurik approaches him in the town square, offering companionship and understanding. Though initially resistant, Baltham repeatedly encounters Lurik in various places—the market, park, and library. Gradually, Lurik's persistence and cheerful demeanor begin to break through Baltham's gruff exterior.
